Costco is an American, membership-only, wholesale retail store with locations throughout Korea. Currently, the nearest location to Sejong City is in Daejeon. Costco has a wide range of products, many of which are American brands. You can get lots of food items that are harder to find elsewhere such as real cheddar cheese. You can also get some clothes and larger household items like laptops, televisions, furniture, appliances and Christmas/Halloween decorations. Additionally, there is a photo centre. One thing to note, especially if you’ve never been to Costco before: everything comes in bulk. You may want to split the cost, and product, with a friend.

Option 1

From Jochiwon, the easiest way to get to Costco is to take a train to Seodaejeon Station. There are several trains running each day with the latest leaving Jochiwon at 9:03 p.m. and getting you to Costco thirty minutes before it closes. From Seodaejeon train station, exit the building and turn left. Go straight and Costco is on your left. It’s less than a 5 minute walk.

Option 2

Another option from Jochiwon is to take the train to Daejeon Station. From there, go to the subway station which is directly in front of the station. Take the train to Seodaejeon Negori, the third stop after Daejeon Station. From there, take exit 3 and walk straight. You will see Homeplus on your left. Keep going past Homeplus until you come a big crossroads. Samsung should be on your right. Turn right and go straight until you come to Seodaejeon Station, which is on your left. Cross the street so you are on the same side as the station and keep going straight until you come to Costco. It’s about a 15 minute walk. (Please note that exit 3 of the subway station is all steps. If you aren’t up for those, exit 4 has an elevator. When you get to the street, turn around and you’ll see exit 3. Follow the rest of the directions as above.)

Option 3

From Sejong City take the BRT towards Banseok Station, which is a subway station in Daejeon. Get off at Banseok and take the subway to Seodaejeon Negori, which is 15 stops later (about 30 minutes). From there, follow the directions as above.
